TOURS and EVENTS

Tours and Events

The Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery offer some of Brisbane’s most unique, meaningful and affordable historical experiences.  From torchlit night tours to evocative daytime walks beneath the trees of Queensland’s oldest still-existing municipal cemetery, these events bring real stories to life where they happened.

Our tours explore South Brisbane Cemetery and other historic sites like Toowong (with Mount Gravatt and Ipswich on occasion).  Each one is grounded in deep research and reveals the lives behind the headstones, from reformers and rebels to floods and folklore, with tragedy and quiet triumphs mixed in.

We also host free public talks, open days and community events that celebrate and preserve our local heritage.  All proceeds support our not-for-profit work in restoration and historical research, helping care for the cemetery and stories that shape our city.
